# For Yield Providers

> How a Yield Provider lists on the Sundial Yield Marketplace: choosing between Dawn and Solstice, and what a program listing contains.

A Yield Provider is a traditional finance institution whose yield strategy is listed on the [Yield Marketplace](https://docs.sundialprotocol.com/products/yield-marketplace.md). This page explains the choice you make as a provider and what a listing contains. To list, contact the team through the [Sundial GitHub organization](https://github.com/sundial-protocol).

## Choose a rail

A rail is the on-chain structure that holds depositors' BTC for your program. You choose it. Depositors don't see it.

| | [Dawn](https://docs.sundialprotocol.com/products/dawn.md) | [Solstice](https://docs.sundialprotocol.com/products/solstice.md) |
| - | - | - |
| Best for | Fixed-term, fixed-rate programs | Open-ended, pooled strategies |
| Deposits | Each deposit is its own escrow | Pooled in one vault |
| Your obligation | Claim each escrow, then distribute principal plus yield before the deadline | Report the position, and keep the redemption buffer funded |
| Depositor holds | A timelocked position | A receipt token |
| Status | Public testnet | In development |

If you already have your own on-chain presence, you can list without using a rail.

## What a listing contains

A listing has a provider record and one or more programs.

**Provider**

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `name` | Your display name |

**Program**

| Field | Meaning |
| - | - |
| `name`, `description` | What depositors see |
| `expected_yield_bps` | Expected yield in basis points. `500` is 5%. |
| `min_lock_ms` | Minimum lock period in milliseconds. `86400000` is one day. |
| `distribution_type` | When yield is paid. `FINAL` pays once, at the end. |
| `program_vault_address` | The Bitcoin address that receives claimed funds |
| `provider_pubkey_hex` | Your 33-byte compressed public key, in hex. It goes into each depositor's Escrow script. |

## Your responsibilities on Dawn

1. **Claim before the deadline.** You sweep each Escrow output with your key.
2. **Distribute before the deadline.** You send principal plus the agreed yield to the depositor's Timelock address.
3. **Keep your key safe.** `provider_pubkey_hex` is embedded in every depositor's script. The matching private key is the only thing that can claim.

Steps 1 and 2 are your obligations under the agreement you sign with each depositor. See [how Dawn works](https://docs.sundialprotocol.com/products/dawn.md#how-dawn-connects-bitcoin-to-traditional-finance).

## Building the transactions

The [`btc-locker` SDK](https://docs.sundialprotocol.com/sdk/btc-locker) builds the claim and distribution transactions.
